News about StudioFD, Frank Doorhof, and more.

Congrats Annewiek (and Frank)

Today is a VERY special day…..

First of all it’s the first day we are in San Fransisco (we just arrived), but also because today…… drumroll….. is our anniversary.
July 7th 1997 at 19:07 Annewiek and I got married (yeah).

Some people live together and sometimes wish for a weekend without the “ball and chain” and don’t get me wrong that’s ok by me. But for me marrying Annewiek was making a bond with my soulmate, we always try to travel together and in fact up until now we always managed to do this because when we are together we feel we can do anything and when we are not together it just isn’t fun. So although we are far away from home we are gonna celebrate today by doing some sightseeing and having a nice family diner, because we are indeed together, and we feel incredibly blessed that with our business we have that option to work and travel together.

Happy anniversary Annewiek 😀

Santa Cruz workshop, only 2 seats left…

Today we are actually in Germany….. “Hallo” that’s german (and Dutch btw)
I’m teaching a workshop on location in a beautiful castle (part of our castle tour in Europe), and as you know teaching on location is the most challenging and also most awesome thing to do for me, I love the interaction with the group, every location has different challenges, every group has different questions… in short EVERY single workshop is different.

Now on July 15th I’m teaching a one day workshop in Santa Cruz (USA) and this whole workshop is about small flash/speed lights.
We have a great model and some cool locations, the fun thing about this workshop is that I’m only gonna learn the group techniques they can use themselves at home straight after the workshop, plus we will be shooting on standard locations (a cool skate area and inside a storage building), sounds nothing like a castle right…. well that’s the cool thing. Creating engaging and cool shots in locations like these are actually reality for most shooters, not everyone can rent a castle and when you have to shoot an entrepreneur on location that often isn’t beautiful, but you are expected to create some stunning images… well that’s what this workshop is all about, loads of techniques, model coaching etc.

At the moment we only have 2 seats left so make sure you don’t miss out.

Santa Cruz here we come….

Teaching workshops on location is one of the most challenging and exciting things, not only for me but also for the attendees of these workshops.
On July 15th I’ll be visiting Santa Cruz for a one day workshop in cooperation with our friends of Expoimaging with the theme “The magic of the small flash”.

In this workshop I’ll teach the group a lot of techniques for the use of speed lights in many different situations ranging from inside to outside, fill in flash and fighting the sun (day to night).

This is a small group workshop and at the moment we only have 3 seats left, so head on over to Watsonville Santa Cruz workshop July 15th 2016 on the site to book your seat and find more information.

NEWS : Learning with Frank Doorhof on Patreon.

We know you guys love the videos we release and our activity on social media. Now we love to give you everything for free (except of course our full length instructional videos) but producing everything is a lot of work and we see that we are producing more and more and in all honesty we want to do even more. But at the moment we are at a point where we have 2 people almost 100% dedicated to social media and video. And somehow we have to make that work to continue our free material and grow in the direction where we want to go, and trust me it’s going to be interesting and fun, but most of all educational.

This is why we had to look for a great way for you guys to support us, we got some great suggestions but they were all pretty limited or cumbersome, and in all honestly just placing a paypal button on the website…. not really our thing.

So we launched our own Patreon page on https://www.patreon.com/frankdoorhof now Patreon is awesome and very easy to use for you guys.

You can still watch all our content for free of course, we won’t put anything behind the “decoder” (as we say in the Netherlands) however by “pledging” for a certain amount per month (starting at $5.00) you can now support us in the work we do. We didn’t choose for the pledge per video option because we release a lot of material and we wanted to make it as easy as possible.

The $5.00 pledge is the most basic, there are more options however and because we believe in giving back all other options have certain benefits for you guys, like a 1:1 Skype call with me once a month, portfolio reviews, discounts etc. So in essence you are supporting us but also yourself with cool little goodies and gems.

At the moment we are creating a fully new videoblog and if we hit a certain goal each month we can start recording it, with the name “behind the closed doors” you probably already have an idea what its about :D, so head on over to https://www.patreon.com/frankdoorhof and support our work and make sure we can create even more for you guys.

And don’t worry, if you don’t…. we still love you and you can still see everything 😀
