Quick first impressions Zhiyun crane

Ok so yesterday we got our #Zhiyun Crane in.

I wanted a more stable video quality for the vlog and our other videos without breaking the bank (too much) or carrying around a large or heavy device.  I already own a glidecam which in all honesty I love and used but it’s heavy and balancing it was more difficult than the new gimble. Also I could film pretty well with it but others had more issues and seeing I’m mostly in front of the camera in the videos that didn’t work out perfectly. So we needed something small and that works for everyone.

My first impressions.
Out of the box working within 10 minutes. No hassle with less or more power via an app (which was a problem with the other brand we later found out).
Works 100% silent. I put my ears really really close and can’t imagine a mic picking up any of the sound I hear. Actually none.
Works great.

You see some reviews online where they claim there are still stutters in the videos unless they move like a ninja…. well yeah duh. It’s a 3 axis gimble of course you have to adjust your filming a little bit for movement. It’s not a miracle device 😉 but it comes really close. If you move a bit more careful you’re getting silky smooth pans. Vertically you have to be a bit more careful because you don’t have a axis stabilizer for that one but even then if you compare it to handheld….. there is NO comparison.
Weight is great.

Combined with the Sony a6500 and 20mm pancake lens it’s a dream combo for vloggers. With a heavier camera it will be heavy during a full day. With the 6500 and 20mm I can probably film all day without a problem (still have to try that)
In yesterday’s episode (march 1) you can see the unboxing and the first (bad) examples of the gimble. We are now one evening further and I’m already much smoother. So the learning curve is pretty quick.
Overall if you’re in the market for a gimble look no further. The price is awesome and the build and performance is much better than expected.
Here is the episode.
