Tip about posing

Often people ask me about posing the model. In all honesty, there are many books out there called “example poses” and I’m not a real fan of those. Although they can be great as a starting pose. You have to realize that every person is different, every body type is different and every pose is different.

I strongly believe the pose should mimic the character of the person, so you can of course put somebody in a pose step by step, but it’s often better to just let them pose themselves, this way you get a more natural flow of the poses, and more motion. You also will find that it gets way easier during the session to keep the poses flowing.

This way you will have more fun during the sessions plus you’ll end up with way more interesting poses. So the next time you do a photo shoot try to let someone move in its own flow, you will be surprised with the outcome, good luck
