Frank Doorhof is specialized in teaching workshops and does this all over the world.
For more info on the workshops visit the workshop website on http://www.fotografie-workshops.nl
The last months the workshops/seminars were taught in : Los Angeles, Santa Anna (USA), Cork (Ireland), Hatfield (UK), Edinburgh (Scotland), Koln (Germany), Aarhus/Copenhagen (Denmark).

Frank also demonstrates on exhibitions for Elinchrom and Leaf, and released several highly acclaimed instructional DVDs which are sold worldwide in both English and Dutch.
A workshop is not something that is standard, a workshop should be a dynamic experience that people can look back to as an unique experience. Just setting the lights and let a beautiful model do the work is not something you can learn a lot from. A good basis is needed for the understanding of light and the way to manipulate it, or:

To see the light you have to understand the light,
But to understand the light you have to see the light.

In the workshops the students learn to understand and see the light, meaning they can be creative themselves without copying the light setups shown in a standard workshop. This approach to teaching workshops has given Frank the opportunity to teach workshops that have changed the way students understand their work. According to Frank most workshops start at step 5 and leaving out step 1-4, in which you learn to understand and do step 5 yourself. A lot of attention is given to understanding the fundamentals of light measuring and how light works, with this method the students can learn to be creative with light and tailor make light setups to their own taste and fitting for their style instead of copying the instructor.
